PASIGHAT, Apr 20: ‘Fire Service Week’ concluded today in East Siang on a positive note. Spearheaded by the Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Jha, the closing ceremony was marked by various activities generating awareness among all sections of people so that loss of property and assets could be minimised due to fire accidents.
A 5-km long marathon race was organized this morning from Raneghat Bridge point to Pasighat Fire Service Station which was formally flagged off by the Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering and IGP (Central Range) Mari Riba in presence of PMC Chief Councilor Okiam Moyong Borang and other dignitaries.
Gracing the occasion, MLA Ering advised the young generation in particular to take part in sports and games pledging that they would stay away from drugs adding that such physical activities would keep them away from the menace. "Younger generation have ample time and space to practice sports and such habits would help them to be busy and physically fit," he said. The MLA further appreciated the leadership of SP Jha for organizing the weeklong event in a befitting manner and shared few precautionary tips.
“We should demonstrate our strong commitment towards the cause of safety and ensure that our homes are free from fire accident," the MLA added.
Earlier, IGP Riba in his brief address said that it was an opportunity to renew our commitment while serving society and to pay homage to those brave firefighters who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
