ITANAGAR, Dec 8: A bamboo-made kitchen attached to the quarters of a Junior Engineer of the PWD was completely burnt down in a fire accident that took place here in capital’s H-Sector in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The house belonged to Risso Chatung who is serving as a JE in one of the branches of the PWD. Although the fire brigade with the help of the colony's youths prevented the fire from spreading to the main building, the kitchen could not be saved. No loss of life was reported, but sources informed that all kitchen items including ornaments               worth lakhs and a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle parked inside the compound were destroyed.
Meanwhile, the H-Sector Welfare Committee has collected funds to provide immediate relief to the fire-affected family. The members of the committee have also urged the residents to park their vehicles at right locations to ensure free movement of fire engines to arrive at the fire-affected spots.
