ITANAGAR, Aug 8: Few hours of torrential rainfall in the wee hours of Monday triggered flash floods which wreaked havoc in the twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun, damaging hundreds of homes, vehicles and properties. 
The flash floods affected scores of people living in the Chandranagar area behind DC office (mining colony), Modirijo, Press colony at Naharlagun, Zoo Road, and other downstream areas near the river basins.
Reportedly properties lost in the incident has been heavy. However, till the filing of this report, no casualties have been reported.
As per reports, few cars were washed away in Naharlagun, and two-wheelers were destroyed after being submerged in flood waters.
"No officials from the district administration nor any department has come to take an assessment of the property losses and we are helpless," lamented a victim while appealing to the district administration to provide immediate relief.
Meanwhile, the District Administration Capital Complex has directed all the subordinate officials of Naharlagun and Itanagar to assess the damages and submit the report within stipulated time frame.
