ITANAGAR, Feb 6: The Boori Boot Yullo festival was celebrated today with fervor and gaiety as men and women of all ages adorned in traditional dresses and beads participated in the final day of the celebration.
Attending the celebration at Nyikum Niya Ground Nirjuli, Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Tage Taki called for celebrating festivals on a bigger and better way to save them from extinction. “Festivals are our way of thanking nature while also looking back at our own culture and tradition in these modern times and it is like a reminder for us of our roots,” he said, adding that festivals also develop positive thinking.
Speaking on development, he said his ministry is going to work on fishery, piggery and poultry sectors which will help increase the income of agriculturists in the state. Director of Indigenous Affairs Tai Taggu informed that his department is working on documentation of five tribes of the state.
