ITANAGAR, Feb 24: Reacting to the proposed bandh called by the All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on February 28 next over non-fulfilment of a slew of demands, Home Minister Bamang Felix on Monday termed it as ‘illegal’. Speaking to reporters, Felix stated that the proposed bandh called by ANYA is illegal and carries no weight as all their demands have already been resolved and a few remaining are in progress.
“We urged the organization to call off its bandh and also invited them for a round table discussion today over the pending issues, if any, but surprisingly they didn’t turn-up,” Felix said.
Disclosing about the already fulfilled demands of ANYA, Home Minister added that state government had issued a notification dated December 16 confirming that district quota will be maintained in APSSB and regarding the recent controversy in the recruitment board, government will take strong action against those involved in irregularities. As of now, the case is under investigation and very soon a detailed Action Taken Report will be placed before all, Felix asserted.
On the work order system, we have already assured them that a committee led by Education Minister Taba Tedir will be constituted and the Minister meanwhile had also conducted a round of meeting related to the Work Order system under Arunachal Pradesh District Based Entrepreneurs & Professionals (Incentives, Development and Promotional) Act, HM informed. “Since this is a legislation, for bringing changes in it, discussions first in Cabinet and then in the Assembly will be necessary,” he remarked. About GeM Portal, Felix said Deputy Chief Minister has already taken the initiative and hopefully, a conclusion will arrive very soon.
While responding to the Assam-Arunachal boundary issue, he informed that state government is aware of the skirmishes happening and has already written a letter to its Assam counterpart urging to maintain status-quo as per Supreme Court directives.
On Trans Arunachal Highway, Felix clarified that a meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister was held on February 21 where it was resolved that compensations to genuine landowners will be paid by the government as per report of the Fact Finding Committee. Moreover, on February 29 next, government will also organize a flag-off programme at Ziro for construction of the road from Potin to Pangin.
It can be recalled that ANYA has made a series of demands to the state government urging to bring modifications in Arunachal Pradesh State Staff Selection Board (APSSB) for accommodating the district quota system and in the Arunachal Pradesh District Based Entrepreneurs & Professionals (Incentives, Development and Promotional) Act 2015 as well as those concerning issues related to the Assam-Arunachal boundary, GeM and Trans Arunachal Highway.
