ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Refuting allegations on mismanagement of fund amounting to Rs. 889 Crore under Department of Panchayati Raj, Bamang Felix who is holding the portfolio claimed that the figure is fragmented, and has no truth.
Felix while responding to question during a recent media briefing held at Press Information Center, informed that the Department has received only Rs. 455 Crore under Fourteenth Finance Commission (FFC)  to be used for various schemes and projects such as  Kitchen Gardens, Early Childhood Care Education, Jal  Jeevan Mission, and others.
"Moreover, we have used Rs 24 Crore to procure masks and sanitizers from the local Self Help Groups during COVID, also procured Kitchen Garden tools and 1,00,20,000 seeds  from National Seed Corporation of India amounting to Rs 3.50 crore and distributed the same across the state. Amount was also used for Early Childhood Care Education,  Jal Jeevan Mission and others in various districts. Moreover, almost half of the funds are still lying unused in the district, so we are insisting them to use the funds," informed the Minister. While speaking on 15th Finance Commission, Felix claimed as per laid down norms of central government the fund will be distributed to the district on  population and geographical conditions.

"The state government has nothing to do with it, we just transfer the funds to the district for local self governance. Moreover, the state government receives Rs. 230 Crore annually (Rs.115 crore on installment). The fund has been transferred to the districts already," Felix said.
