Itanagar, May 7: Home Minister Bamang Felix and Education Minister Taba Tedir on Thursday convened a meeting at the Conference Hall of PTC Banderdewa with the officers of the District Administrations of Capital Region and Papum Pare to discuss the modalities for ensuring smooth transit of students/persons returning to the state and intending to go to their respective home districts through the Banderdewa gate.
Nodal officers from Papum Pare, Kamle, Lower Subansiri, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, Upper Subansiri, East Kameng and Pakke Kesang districts appointed for coordinating the passage were briefed and asked to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during the entire course of journey. They were further directed to ensure that returnees are escorted by police during the journey and handed over to the respective district quarantine centres for completion of the required quarantine period.
Felix stressed that every individual coming from outside the state has to enter only through the Banderdewa check gate and other vehicles carrying essential and non-essential commodities may be allowed through Gumto and Hollongi check gates. While informing that Kimin check gate has been sealed for any kind of communication, he underscored that both Capital and Papum Pare DAs have to work jointly to fight the pandemic. Taking stock of the PTC quarantine centre, Home Minister assured that a few lacunae that are visible would be addressed by the state government and in this regard directed the DCs to immediately fill up the additional requirement of toilets, water etc. He also directed the Station Superintendents of Capital and ISBT to coordinate with the nodal officers for smooth conveyance of the returnees.
Tedir stressed that SOPs should be strictly followed at check gates and the Ministers also visited the hostels where people under quarantine are currently staying and took stock of the infrastructure. Briefing on the issue of shortage of toilets, Capital DC informed that 18 mobile toilets have already been installed and a few more will be installed soon, adding that DA is trying to provide best services to those under quarantine and the drawbacks will be taken care soon. He further informed that a few hotels as paid quarantine centres have been identified which can be availed by those willing to pay for their stay.
DMO Dr Mandip Perme informed that as per latest SOPs, those passing through the state capital and heading for districts have to be provided quarantine facility at their respective districts along with provision for sample collection and test. However, thermal screening will be compulsorily carried out first before they are sent to the districts from PTC Banderdewa, DMO added.
Meanwhile, Capital and Papum Pare DCs Komkar Dulom and Pige Ligu respectively along with ADM Talo Potom visited the BPL Housing Colony to explore the possibility of converting the same into a quarantine centre which has a capacity to accommodate around 570 people in separate flats. DIPRO
