BANDERDEWA, Apr 28: Home Minister Bamang Felix on Tuesday visited the Police Training Centre (PTC) here where a quarantine facility capable of accommodating 800 people has been set up.
Speaking to the media persons after inspecting the facility, Felix although sounding satisfied over the arrangement said there are some gaps and expressed hope that these will be filled up within the next few days. He made a passionate appeal to the people who will be returning to the state, especially students to strictly follow the quarantine advisories. “If you love your family and friends, stay in quarantine centres and support the efforts of the government,” he said.
Appreciating the health department for their preparedness in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, Felix said: “The lockdown period has given time for the government to prepare and the health department has done a good job. I believe we are prepared enough to deal with any eventuality.” He also appealed the state's indigenous tribal communities to take lead role in the battle against the pandemic. “I appeal every citizen to strictly follow the lockdown and social distancing norms and tribal people should take the lead and work for protecting the state,” he said.
The Home Minister further added that besides quarantine centres, counselling desks will also be set up and asymptomatic and symptomatic returnees will be kept separately. He once more categorically made it clear that even those who are returning to the districts will also have to follow the quarantine measures. ES Newsdesk
