ZIRO, Jul 2: Home Minister Bamang Felix asked the Superintendents of Police of the Western Range to submit a comprehensive two year short term plan and a five year long term plan for their respective districts during the maiden conference of the Superintendent of Police of the Western Range held in Ziro today.
“An ethnically diverse state like ours cannot be manned by a uniform policing role across the state. The local sentiments and ethos has to be considered while framing the plans both in terms of infrastructural development and psychological intervention,” he added while urging all the SPs to submit their tactically designed plans at the earliest.
Also while directing the SPs to submit the list of habitual criminals, categorizing them into different categories as per their records, he said, “Criminals have no class, caste or clan. Zero tolerance against crimes should be the mantra for all our police personnel.”
A special common cell for the undivided Subansiri as the nature of crimes and the mentality of the criminals of undivided Subansiri is almost same and another cell for districts sharing borders with the neighbouring states is in the pipeline, to facilitate coordination between the district police to curtail inter district and interstate crimes, he further informed.
“Timely DPCs and promotions of my officers shall be one of my prerogatives. This should act as a catalyst for all the officers to be proactive and hard working,” he added while urging all for cooperation.
“The Government will be soon launching Hamara Arunachal Abhiyaan (HAA) wherein people from all walks of life, CBOs, woman organizations etc will be assisting the Police Department in containing law and order situations in their respective jurisdiction,” he further informed .
This HAA will facilitate CBOs to issue social sanction against many crimes, he added while urging all the SPs to submit plans wherein interventions of CBOs shall be required to contain law and order issues that could cripple society.
All the SPs in their power point presentation highlighted the activities in their districts. They also brought to the notice of the Minister their issues pertaining to infrastructural gaps and man power requirements.  Issues like hiring of IT professionals to tackle the ever rising cyber crimes, training requirements for the police personnel, use of social media to create awareness and image building of the police etc were also discussed elaborately during the meeting.
