ITANAGAR August 19: Home Minister Bamang Felix today convened a review meeting on Joram-Koloriang Road with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) representative here at his office.
Felix was accompanied by Education Minister Taba Tedir and NHIDCL was represented by its General Manager Prabhakar Kumar. The Home Minister categorically asked the NHIDCL to expedite work on the strategic road which has been pending for long. He said that since monsoon is gradually receding, primary works like shifting of essential services viz. water supply, power poles etc. should be started immediately in order to facilitate smooth and timely construction of the road.
The said 138 kms of JK road is estimated to cost aproximately Rs. 900 crores with a total of 85 electrical poles and 23039 meters of water supply pipelines posing hindrances needing immediate shift to ease construction work. It is worth mentioning that the foundation stone of this stretch of road was laid in the month of December 2018 by Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and host of other dignitaries and it has been in news for excessive disbursement of compensation leading to an enquiry and related arrests by the SIC. Stressing on the necessity of regular reviews and monitoring for addressing the issues confronted by the executing agency and for expediting projects across state, Felix added that he would take up regular reviews on the progress of the road.
Earlier, NHIDCL updated the cause of delay of highway projects and informed about future plans regarding the Joram-Koloriang project.
