Itanagar, Jan 16: Home Minister Bamang Felix today chaired a meeting held here at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre to discuss issues pertaining to the overall developmental aspirations of the state capital along with matters concerning law & order, environment, cleanliness etc.
MLA Itanagar Techi Kaso, Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom, SP Tumme Amo, all administrative officers and HoDs of Itanagar Capital Region attended the meeting. Highlighting the motive of Hamara Arunachal Abhiyan, Home Minister stressed on sharing of responsibility to make the state capital more safer, serene and liveable for the coming generations. Felix said the need of the hour is to constitute committees for every sector comprising officers from District Administration, police, PHED, power, PWD and active residents who will work for the welfare of their respective area and the primary responsibility of the committees would be to create a safe and secure atmosphere, check entry/exit in their locality especially at night. Taking forward the idea of clean and green Arunachal, he stressed that the committee would identify probable locations for planting saplings and added that the committee can consult with the Forest Department regarding the choice of saplings as per soil suitability. For misguided youths under grip of drugs, a rehabilitation centre can be helpful, he added, also informing that CCTVs would be installed at all vulnerable and prominent locations of the Capital Region. For encouraging cleanliness among denizens, cleanliness competition among sectors, schools etc will be organised, he informed.
Kaso while reiterating the need of formation of sector committees, also urged for installation of CCTVs for enhancing security in the Capital Complex region and appealed all to cooperate in the process. DC said that collaborative efforts would be required from every individual for success of such endeavours and seeking cooperation from all officers, he asked them to function as Team Itanagar.
SP highlighted the requirement of more number of jails with larger capacity in the capital and urged the Home Minister to pursue the matter and urged people to get their employees properly verified through Verification Mela. While stressing on the need for regulating arms licences and checking of criminal records, he also highlighted the immediate need to have de-addiction centres, ban earth cutting, check nuisance of gambling, and initiate river cleaning etc. IMC EE Er Tadar Tarang highlighted various issues that are being faced while carrying out sanitation works like requirement of more sanitation vehicles, workers, sanitary landfills etc.
Felix while hoping that the meeting would instil a sense of responsibility in every individual towards their state, sought people’s cooperation to make Itanagar a more safe, secure and serene city. DIPRO
