ITANAGAR, Sep 19:  Irked over the delay in construction of the strategic Balipara-Charduar- Tawang (BCT) highway by Border Road Organization (BRO), the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation urged the concern authority to renovate the alternate route of Zero Point- Khuppi –Pinjoli road for easy movement of commuters.

Addressing the media at press club, President AAPPTF, Dobing Sonam asserted that construction work on BCT road is at a snail pace and till date only 30% work has been completed which has total length of 304 Km.

The  BCT road is a significant road both in  view of security and  tourism,  but despite repeated pleas to the Chief Secretary and Chief Engineer Project  Vartak, BRO Tezpur  the condition of the said road is still very disheartening,  said Sonam while claiming that  due to blockade of road, tourism has drastically declined in the area. Moreover locals are also facing unspeakable problem due to the long route from Balemu  to  reach Bomdila and Tawang.

While slamming the BRO authority for their lethargic work, AAPPTF   stated ‘We had physically surveyed the area and found that BRO has limited manpower as well as machinery. So we urge the authority to handover the project to some private company if the BRO is incompetent to execute the BCT road.’

Further, AAPTF also expressed its resentment over the executive order issued by Deputy Commissioner West Kameng   on fixing the schedule on opening and closing of BCT road for commuters without any consultation with the aggrieved party (AAPPTF). ‘We had already submitted  the proper schedule  keeping in view the departure and arrival of daily commercial transport services  from different areas but surprisingly the concern DC didn’t give any heed to our proposal,’ Sonam claimed.

Meanwhile, the federation has also sought intervention of all the MLAs from the three districts— Tawang, West Kameng and East Kameng.
