KHONSA, Mar 20: Project Director, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Hakresha Kri accompanied by a team of officials today inspected a cluster farm in Chomoithung village under Khela-Bunting Block of Tirap district.
While sowing the saplings of orange, pineapple, ginger and maize, Kri highlighted the importance of the centrally sponsored scheme meant for making the farmers self-reliant. Arunachal Pradesh has made significant progress in gradually doing away with the age-old practice of jhum or shifting cultivation which degrades the environment, he said. Resource Persons ADO Rajen Toki and HDO Rajen Tokbi gave demonstrations to the farmers on cropping patterns and encouraged them to practice multi-cropping for uninterrupted income generation. BDO, Khonsa Jangpong Tangjang, Er. Telem Kitnya, APO (RE), Tolong Sumnyan and other technical staff were part of the team that inspected the cluster farm.
It can be recalled the team earlier visited the cluster farms in Tutnu and Sennu villages under Lazu Circle. DIPRO
