ITANAGAR, Sep 28: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Monday submitted a memorandum to the President of India on Farm Bills through the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh demanding incorporation of sections and clauses for protecting the interests of farmers.
Former Minister and Vice-President APCC, Bosiram Siram and General Secretary Mina Toko submitted the memorandum to the Governor’s office. ADC to Governor made an official receipt on behalf of the Governor. Elaborating on the memorandum, the APCC Vice President said it contains the demand for inclusion of sections and clauses for protecting the farmers’ interests. “Farmers of the country have been denied protection under the new farm laws and interests of the corporate have been given priority which is the only reason for these huge protests,” he said, asserting that their suggested changes are essential to protect the rights of farmers and to avoid black marketing of their produce.
Responding to the query that the bills are already laws now after the President's assent, Siram said in the Constitution there are still some provisions for amendment and rectification of enacted bills.
