PASIGHAT Apr 4:  Following the granting of bail to the accused in the murder of engineering student Katem Dai, the victims family and the Adi Mising Student’s Coordination Committee (AMSCC), Guwahati have urged the Assam police to conduct proper investigation while also seeking the institute where the deceased was studying to blacklist accused Rajen Tachang Tara.

In a letter to Officer -in-Charge, Gorchuk Police Station, Guwahati on Monday, the AMSCC, Guwahati led by President, Tushar Ngatey and General Secretary, Kenzing Yosung has appealed the police investigating the murder case for proper investigation and examination of related evidences.

The AMSCC has urged the police to take some vital witnesses and evidences into account which includes five eye witnesses to be examined, examination of unedited CCTV footage and examination of call detail records of the victim’s three mobile numbers.

The committee has also suggested and appealed the police to add two witnesses in the Charge Sheet in the column list of witnesses as both the witnesses were the one who had identified the dead body in the presence of doctor during Post Mortem.  The committee has also alleged that, the accused, Rajen Tachang Tara who has already been released on bail is trying to distort the evidences using social media.

While talking to this reporter over telephone from Guwahati, AMSCC General Secretary, Kenzing Yosung said that, if police make proper investigation on the suggestion and lead given by them, the matter will reach to a lawful end which would help in punishing the accused as per law.

Meanwhile, the committee along with parents of late Katem Dai have served a week’s ultimatum to the Scholars Institute of Technology and Management, Guwahati on March 30 last demanding black listing of the accused.

They maintained that, the accused should not only be suspended but blacklisted so that he won’t get admission in any other institute.

Late Katem Dai, a civil engineering student was killed on February 20 last following a tiff with his classmate Rajen Tachang Tara at the institute’s hostel.
