ITANAGAR, Aug  28: The family of late Techi Meena Lishi and the United Tara Aab Youth Foundation (UTAYF) have appealed for a fair and speedy trial and  exemplary punishment against all the accused involved in the gruesome murder of Meena and her unborn child.
Addressing reporters at the press club today,   President UTAYF Tana Shusil Tara informed that the main accused  Lishi Roni and his love interest  Chumi Taya have applied for bail many a times but was rejected even by the Supreme Court.
But on 20th December 2021, Chumi Taya and the Manager of Lishi Roni, Bijay Biswas were discharged by the Session Court Yupia without proper trial, which was very disheartening to the family members. However, on 2nd August, the Guwahati High Court Itanagar Bench, after hearing the plea and Revision Petition filed by the victim's family members, quashed the order of the Lower Court, and the duo were sent back to the Central Jail.
"The murder incident shattered the whole state as such gruesome murder has never occurred in the state. So, the family members felt disheartened after seeing both Chumi and Biswas discharged as they are also part of the murder. So, we appeal to the law enforcement agency and judicial body to expedite the case and confer exemplary punishment to all the accused," said Tara.
Techi Kak, father of the deceased extended gratitude to the public, relatives, NGOs, Students Organizations, APWWS for standing strong during their difficult time.
"The incident occurred on 5th November 2020, and despite the passage of nearly two years, we are waiting for justice for my daughter and her unborn child," he said while  appealing to the court to expedite the case and confer justice.
