ZIRO, Oct 25:Parliamentary Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies, Er Tage Taki dedicated a double storied separate Eye Wing to the people of Lower Subansiri today at Gyati Takka General Hospital, Ziro. The dedicated eye wing is the fourth in the state.

Taki observed that the facility will not only cater to the needs of Lower Subansiri district, but also neighbouring districts of Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kurmey and Kra Daddi.

Expressing satisfaction at the performances of the Doctors, nurses and other paramedical staffers in improving the health indicators of the district, he said, ‘The medical fraternity has achieved its primary goal of providing good healthcare to society, however the secondary goal of educating the masses about prevention of diseases has to be still worked out rigorously.’

Sharing his plan to re-organize and re-orient the Gyati Takka General hospital and providing the denizens of Lower Subansiri a good planned hospital, he revealed that as soon as the 5hectare land for the new hospital is identified, the work shall start.

SPO, National Program for Control of Blindness (NPCB) Dr. Taba Khanna while deliberating on the genesis of NPCB said that Arunachal Pradesh being the second highest in the blindness ratio in the country needs to take up measures to create awareness and improve eye care facilities in the state.

The double storied separate Eye wing, constructed by RWD, Ziro at a cost of Rs.1cr has an OPD, male and female wards, nurses room and an operation theatre.
