Itanagar, May 5: Gyamar Padang, the whistle-blower of the APPSC paper leakage scam was paid overwhelming tribute on the occasion of his first death anniversary by thousands who gathered at his residence in Naharlagun on Sunday.
Padang, who exposed the APPSC paper leak scam, breathed his last on May 5th, 2023, at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology in Hyderabad after battling prolonged illness.
On August 28, 2022, Gyamar Padang had filed an FIR regarding the APPSC paper leak scam at the Itanagar police station which led to shocking revelations involving the state’s premier recruiting body.
Techi Rana, who contested the just concluded Lok Sabha (West) seat as an independent candidate representing the PAJSC; Techi Puru, Chairman of the Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee, Gyamar Tana, General Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee, and Bamang Tago, Secretary-General of the Arunachal Olympic Association, were among those who paid homage to the late whistleblower.
Techi Puru, Chairman of PAJSC, thanked the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their solidarity with Padang's family and their commitment to address the issue of paper leakage in the state's premier recruiting agency. He however criticized the government's response, particularly regarding its assurance to address the 13-point charter of demands put forth by the committee.
PAJSC further said that it will try further to pursue the matter of erecting the “Statue of Honesty” to honour Gyamar Padang.
