ITANAGAR, Feb 29: As a part of the exposure tour to various power stations of NHPC, a 27-member delegation consisting of officials of Arunachal Pradesh State Hydropower Department and locals from various districts of the state visited Chamera Power Station-I, Khairi, Chamba in Himachal Pradesh on February 26-27.
The aim of the visit which was undertaken as per directives of the Union Ministry of Power was to help in clearing doubts and apprehensions of the state's villagers about the concept of hydro projects. The delegation was headed by Superintendent Engineer, DHPD Taki Tatin and Superintendent Engineer (EM) T. Udlk Taba along with the local representatives. General Manager (In-charge), Chamera Power Station-I M.A. Padmanabhachar welcomed the team on arrival.
During the two days, the team was briefed about the social, economic, educational and basic infrastructural developmental works undertaken by Chamera Power Station-I. Important venues such as central school of Dal Power Station, project hospital, bank, post office, power house, dam and Sewa-II Power Station were visited by the team, during when they were briefed about the various activities undertaken under CSR and SD schemes which have brought benefits to the locals.
The Arunachal delegation also met the local representatives of Chamera-I followed by an interactive session which allowed for getting feedbacks and clarity about various concept of hydro projects. A cultural evening in honour of the team members was organized at Chamera Power Station-I where they were felicitated by the General Manager (In-charge) through presentation of traditional Himachali caps. The employees of Chamera-I Power Station and their children performed Pahari and Punjabi folk music and dances.
The GM I/c while explaining that nature has provided all resources to each and every state of the country which can be used suitably for overall development and prosperity, opined Arunachal Pradesh too can achieve that since it has vast wealth of hydropower, tourism and agriculture. He expressed hope the visit will prove positive towards development of hydropower in Arunachal. General Manager (In-charge), Sewa-II Power Station Bedi Ram, section-wise GMs, and other senior officers and staff of NHPC were present.
