Yupia, Dec 7: A four day long trekking expedition to Lal Ane, the highest peak of Papum Pare district which falls in Mengio circle was carried out successfully. The 34 member team lead by expert mountaineer and Everester Padmashri Dr. Anshu Jamsenpa, Tame Bagang and Tagit Sorang was accompanied by Rigio Tabam, District Tourism Officer, Yupia and Yakar Dawe Circle Oficer Yupia, Forest ranger including volunteer trekkers among others from December 3-6.
Majestic Lal Ane mountain is also known as Lali Ane in local language. At 3776 meter above sea level, it is considered as the highest mountain peak of Papum Pare District. Lal Ane mountain range connects Papum Pare, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang and Kurung Kumey of Arunachal Pradesh.
Some major rivers like Pachi,Pacha of East Kameng District,Panior and Parang of Papum Pare and Panyi of Kurung Kumey district originate from this mountain. It plays a significant role in the cultural history of Nyishi inhabitants across this mountain.
The trekking expedition was organised by Arunachal Tourism Society in collaboration with District Administration Papumpare to explore the future prospects of Tourism development at Lal Ane peak. DIPRO
