ITANAGAR, Apr 9: The newly appointed Highway administrator cum ADM and Chief Estate Officer Talo Potom will carry out eviction drive on NH-415 from Chandranagar to Papu Nallah later this month.

Talking to this correspondent, Potom said that the appointment for carrying out eviction on NH-415 from Itanagar to Banderdewa have been finalised and order to this effect have been issued by Government of India (GOI). The eviction would be carried out as per alignment from Chandranagar to Papu Nallah in first phase while rest would be done accordingly. The eviction includes unauthorised occupation on Right of Way (RoW) and others would be carried out soon.

A total of 1084 land encroachers have been identified and portion of the premises were marked in presence of the building owners from time to time. Several queries were also raised by the owners at various point of time of which most have been resolved.

‘437 notices for eviction are ready for dispatch to occupants at Chandranagar to Papu Nallah and eviction would be done simultaneously,’ Potom said.

The notification issued by Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, Government of India on 5th April 2017 wherein Executive Engineer, Naharlagun Highway Division, Nirjuli has been made administrator for the stretch of road from Hollongi to Itanagar (NH-415) of 19.260 KM, Executive Engineer, Doimukh Highway Division, PWD, Yupia has been authorised to administer for the stretch of road from Papu to Yupia, Yupia to Hoj and Hoj to Potin  (713 A)of 9.66, 20.4 and 19.60 KM while Chief Estate Officer, District Administration, Itanagar would see the stretch of road from Itanagar to Banderdewa (NH-415) of 31.5 KM respectively.

Potom also said that first phase of four lane road construction has been sanctioned for ten KM from Chandranagar to Papu Nallah, the tender process under Engineering Procurement Contract (EPC) is under process, the successful bidder will start the work after award of the work which may take three weeks time.

He said that the construction agency will take over the space immediately after the eviction, while construction may start from Papu Nallah to Chandranagar to avoid traffic menace by using Jully road during the time of construction.

The PHED, Power and Telecom Department should take their space immediately after eviction in consultation with Highway Engineer, Potom added.
