JULLY, Sep 9: Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Talo Potom on Tuesday conducted an eviction drive under the premises of 4th IRBN Hq here to clear encroachment with men and machinery.
Speaking to the media, the ADM informed that the eviction drive has been initiated as per the directives of the court and more than 200 illegal encroachments have been recorded inside the jurisdiction of the campus which has an area of 340 acre. “Besides the eviction drive, the officials of the Land & Revenue department and police are also demarcating the boundaries,” he informed, adding that notices to those who have illegally encroached the land have been sent earlier. “The hearing has been made, however, some have acquired LPC (3) and allotments (7) and so we are looking at their documents,” he said.
“As more than 90 % of land has already been encroached, we are trying today to clear at least 50% of them. Earlier, the area belonged to the Urban Development department allotted in 2002, but it has been transferred to the police for 4th IRBN Headquarters in 2013,” the ADM informed. “There are some genuine people who reside in the area for many years and if the state government seeks some amicable solution they can assist them,” he stated.
Meanwhile, he also disclosed that similar eviction drives will be initiated soon on the National Highway from Hollongi to Chandranagar, Hotel Todo to Jully Tri junction and Jully Tri-junction to Banderdewa. “We need to keep our Capital clean and there will be no compromise on that,” ADM asserted.
