Aalo, Jul 16: West Siang Superintendent of Police Jummar Basar has directed the Officers-In-Charge of PS Aalo and Kamba to conduct evening patrolling on the highway falling under their respective jurisdiction on a regular basis to ensure traffic discipline.
The OCs were categorically instructed to make sure that no individual is involved in rash and negligent driving and gets involved in activities such as drinking along roadsides and other nuisance. The order has also mentioned that cases of road accidents arising out of such prohibited activities shall be attributed to the lack of supervision and active patrolling by the concerned OCs. The SP further revealed that 11 cases of road accidents in the highway stretch from Aalo to Kamba have been recorded in the last 3 years, out of which 5 had been fatal resulting in loss of valuable lives.
The order has also been necessitated to ensure safety of the health-conscious citizens who use the stretch for walking, jogging, running and other physical exercises in absence of parks and other recreational facilities in the township.
The OCs have been specifically directed to register criminal cases promptly against any violation of the order. DIPRO
