ITANAGAR, Mar 28: In the wake of the nationwide lockdown, remote Vijoynagar circle under Changlang district is facing acute shortage of essential commodities.
The same has been confirmed by the local MLA and who is also the Minister of Urban Development, Kamlung Mosang. “There is a shortage of essential commodities due to lockdown and even head load through local porters have stopped," he said.
However to mitigate the shortage, 2500Kg of salt, 1000kg rice and other medical emergency items were sent today at Vijoynagar through helicopter, informed the Minister.
“Salt is very cheap and an essential item but due to the remoteness and tough geographical terrain of Vijoyanagar, sometimes one kg of salt cost upto Rs 200.So, we are purchasing 2500Kg of salt which will be distributed free of cost to the people so that there shouldn’t be any shortage in this lockdown period,' added Mosang.
