ITANAGAR, Dec 21: In a major breakthrough, Capital police arrested three cadres of the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) who were in the capital complex to carryout extortion activities from a city hotel on December 18  last.
Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police ICR, Jimmy Chiram (IPS) disclosed that during interrogation the suspects revealed that they work for the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG), an underground outfit mostly active in the TCL region and had come to Itanagar to extort money from public leaders and officers for Christmas and New Year. The trio also revealed of coming to Itanagar earlier on many occasions with their General Secretary Tamai Wancho and extorted money from the Capital Complex area for their Organisation.
Earlier on receiving information from reliable sources, a police team led by SP Capital Jimmy Chiram , SDPO Itanagar  K Sikom, OC PS Itanagar, OC SB arrived at a city hotel and detained the three suspects--  Jahirul Rahman(30), Awang Hodong (28) and Gangkhah Gangsa (24).
On further body search including the room, Police team recovered one small arms .22 Pistol, 10 rounds of live ammunition including cash.  Two extortion demand notes in the name of Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG),  a car used for extortion and  some documents were also seized from their possession, the SP added.

A case has been registered Itanagar PS Case No. 513/2021 U/S 384/34 IPC r/w section 27 Arms Act and investigation taken up.
The three arrested accused were forwarded to the  JMFC, Capital complex, Yupia and remanded to 4 days Police Custody and investigation is on.
