ITANAGAR, Jun 17: An 18-year-old civil engineering student who was admitted to the Covid Care Centre (CCC) in Banderdawa after testing Covid-19 positive on June 5 last and later shifted to the TRIHMS was declared cured on Wednesday and discharged with the advice to follow a further 10-14 days strict home quarantine.
The patient was the lone to be tested positive out of a total of 10 students who returned to the state from Chennai by train. He was admitted to the CCC from the PTC isolation centre in Banderdawa after his sample came positive and was later shifted to the TRIHMS when he complained of physical weakness and loss of appetite. “I have no idea how and when I got infected with the virus during my stay at Chennai and the most bizarre thing is that while I was tested positive, samples of nine others who travelled with me to the state came negative,” the recovered patient disclosed.
The youth recalled that he was in deep shock and fear when his reports showed Covid-19 positive. “Soon I realized that I should not worry and started following the instructions given by the doctors and as I understood, it was only with their support and care, I defeated the virus,” he added.
To keep the mind busy while staying at the TRIHMS he browsed the social media, read online news and played games to pass time and for self-motivation. “There is no need to panic at all. Talk to your friends, family members and parents, browse social media and play games to counter the loneliness, but never let depression and anxiety overtake your mind,” the Covid-19 survivor advised patients who have been infected by the virus. He further thanked the medical staff who took care of him and motivated him all throughout the isolation period.
The patient who is pursuing a Civil Engineering course at Chennai had to skip his second-semester examination and come back to the state after relaxation of the lockdown.
