Khonsa, Dec 14: The National Energy Conservation Day was conducted for the first time in Tirap district on Monday under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) here at the Government Town Secondary School which saw participation by students and teachers.
Addressing the students, Project Officer, APEDA, Tirap Er. Yami Ronya informed that the event was the first of its kind awareness programme on energy conservation in the district to mark the National Energy Conservation Day, observed annually on December 14. Besides appealing to the students to spread awareness in their respective villages to plant more trees, she appealed all to use LED bulbs/tubes instead of the fluorescent versions for energy conservation.
The APEDA Project Officer further informed that solar study lamps will be distributed to all government school students in the district studying in Classes I-X from December 16 next.
