ITANAGAR, Sep 23: A donation camp was held outside  NE departmental store, Ziro Point as part of a three-day  drive to raise funds for Ego flood victims under the Leparada district organized by the Ego Bango Intellectual Forum (EBIF). Earlier EBIF also launched a 10-day digital fundraising campaign for the affected flood victims.
Floods triggered by incessant rains have wreaked havoc in the Siang belt and added to existing vulnerabilities due to COVID-19, besides disrupting surface communications in several districts over the past month.
It should be mentioned here that on September 17 last, two people lost their lives and at least 10 houses and 15 shops were completely washed away by flash flood triggered by heavy rainfall at Ego camp.
Leading the drive, Dagge Riba said that the donation drive received tremendous response from the public as donations are also being contributed by people across the country.
“On behalf of EBIF, I would like to thank all those who came forward and generously contributed to help the Ego flood-affected families. Anyone who wants to donate can also transfer the amount directly to the account number via online transactions circulated on the social media platforms,” appealed Riba.
"Your small contribution would make a big difference in the lives of flood-affected families who have lost everything in the disaster," he said.
"The second and third phases of the donation camp will be held simultaneously on September 24 at Sohum Multi-Brand Shopping Complex, Naharlagun, and on September 25 at Akashdeep, Ganga Itanagar.
