ITANAGAR, Oct 12: Galo People’s Federation (GPF) has demanded the state government to release special relief package for Ego-Camp devastation and Rs 50 lakh for the victims. On September 17 last a landslide triggered by flash flood resulted in the loss of two lives and complete destruction of several properties worth in crores.
While demanding the immediate release of the compensation announced by the State government to the victims, Boje alleged the state government of step-motherly attitude toward the Ego Camp victims. Almost one month has passed but the PWD Minister nor Chief Minister has visited the Ego camp to assess the destruction.
‘Roads have been damaged, there is no electricity, no drinking water facility in the area after the incident till date,’ lamented the President while informing that out of two people who lost their lives, the body of one hasn't been found yet.
Boje added that they had long before expressed apprehension of such an incident and also pursued the matter but their pleas were not heeded by the authorities concerned. He added that the authorities concerned have also completely ignored monitoring the work progress and quality.
He added that the state government and the district administration is also not interested in constituting a high-level fact-finding committee despite the loss of lives, houses and complete destruction of properties worth in crores.
Earlier, General Secretary GPF - Reken Ingo appealed to the state government to recognize the act of bravery shown by one Jumken Doke, a college student, who saved a three-year-old one Marjum Doke from drowning during the incident.
