DIRANG, Oct 28: Education Minister Taba Tedir on his two day tour of West Kameng District visited educational institutions and took stock of the situation.
On day one, Minister visits Thembang, a 12th century old fortified village which is shortlisted for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site and the village Upper Primary School. 
Thembang Heritage Village Council apprised the minister about the current position of Thembang in the process of inclusion in the final list of UNESCO’s World Heritage site. Council submitted a memorandum to the Minister stating that “Thembang Village has been nominated for World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2014 along with the Ziro Valley and State Government has already declared Thembang as State Heritage Site in the year 2015 but after passing of five years, there is delay in progress for making it the the final list of UNESCO”.
Thembang could be a great asset and pride for our state if it makes it to the final list of UNESCO World Heritage Site, they added. 
While interacting with the council member, the minister said that the state government will provide all support for making it to the final list of UNESCO. 
On day two, Tedir visited the Government Polytechnic College, Sarada Mission School, Government Higher Secondary School and ongoing construction of new building site of GHSS, Dirang. 
Principal of Dirang Polytechnic College Dr. Anil Choudhary briefed the issues of college in his presentation. While interacting with the teachers and students, the minister informed that the government has  already allotted Rupees 1 crore for the administration building, one crore for the library, one crore for the 30- bed boys hostel, 50 lakhs for the playground, 30 lakhs for the internal road connection and work is being executed  by the PWD, Dirang.
All the necessary support will be provided by the government to get the final approval from the AICTE, he stated.  
While visiting the ongoing construction site of new building of GHSS, Dirang, the Minister directed the executing agency and contractor to maintain quality of works and complete it in due course of time. 
Tedir also inaugurated Information & Communication Technology Laboratory constructed under the Project JIGYASA (RAA) at Government Secondary School, Rama Camp.
Advisor to the Minister of PWD Phurpa Tsering, ZPC Rinchin Zomba Merakpa, OSD to Minister Chuku Mama, Special Secretary Secondary Education Saurabh Shaswat, Special Secretary Elementary Education Soumya Sourabh, DSPD RUSA Minto Ete, SLO (DHTE) Dr. A K Mishra, Admin officers and HoDs also accompanied the minister.
