Guwahati, Nov 5: The 8th Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum 2020 and the first virtual edition of ‘Ecology is Economy’ will be conducted from December 1-5 across 12 Eastern Himalayan capitals and 20 global locations by Balipara Foundation to discuss the pressing issue of ‘Ecological Leadership over Economic Destruction’.
The forum will be discussing the issues and opportunities for action in ecology, economy and community-centric conservation with the larger aim of generating recommendations for communities, businesses, governments and social and conservation non-profit organisations to give way to a collaborative approach in realising a green circular economy. The virtual conference will see more than 60 eminent personalities from multi-disciplinary fields from across 20 countries like the USA, UK, Japan, Philippines, Chile, Argentina, Netherlands, India etc. who will engage in the discourse on tackling ecological crisis and the ways and means in catalysing green growth.
The forum will end with the virtual Balipara Foundation Awards on December 5 which will recognize the extraordinary visionaries of the Eastern Himalayas for their contributions in showing new directions in establishing harmony with nature through sustainable methods in the quest for a green economy. As part of the Rabindranath Barthakur Memorial Lecture, 
renowned historian and author Rudrangshu Mukherjee will deliver the key leadership address on ‘Ecology is Economy’ from a historian’s perspective.
The Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum, an auxiliary of Balipara Foundation is the largest of its kind in the region dedicated towards community building in Asia. Launched in 2007, Balipara Foundation works in collaboration with local communities to establish Naturenomics Civilizations, a global vision for an ecologically regenerative and community-centric model of economy through afforestation, access to potable water, healthcare and sustainable housing. Since inception and by 2020, the Foundation has successfully created 2 million natural assets through its Rural Futures programmes in partnership with forest fringe communities.
