JAIRAMPUR, Mar 20: As a mark of solidarity with the victims of the coup in Myanmar engineered by its military, hundreds of people belonging to the Tangsa, Singpho, Yobin and Kampti communities, their student organizations and CBOs hailing from Eastern Arunachal today participated in a rally here at the iconic World War II cemetery.
Participants displayed placards and banners carrying messages like ‘Give Way to Democracy’, ‘India Supports Democracy’, ‘Stop Killing Innocent Civilians’ etc. Expressing concern over the atrocities being meted out to the innocent protesters in Myanmar by the security forces, General Secretary, Singpho Development Society (SDS) Ongyun Maio condemned the junta for the violence. “We support and extend solidarity with the citizens of Myanmar and believe that democracy will prevail soon in their country,” he said.
Extending support to the Myanmar people, President, Tangsa Women’s Welfare Society Korong Longri said that although being peace-loving people, it is impossible to remain as mute spectators watching the violence going on in the neighbouring country.
We are with the citizens of Myanmar and condemn the atrocities committed by the Myanmar Army, she added.
