PASIGHAT, Jun 13: The district level pre-monsoon preparedness meeting chaired by the East Siang Deputy Commissioner cum District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Tayi Taggu today thoroughly discussed department-wise monsoon preparedness plans; disaster relief measures, early warning systems; checking readiness of equipment & communication systems; advance procurement of necessary relief materials, coordinated approach for disaster response & community-based disaster management; lessons learnt from previous preparedness and disaster response activities. The meeting was attended by the SP Sumit Kumar Jha, ADC Tatdo Borang, HoOs, representatives of CRPF and BRO and others. 
Stressing the need for greater coordination and co-operation among various stakeholders and NGOs to tackle disasters, Taggu called for timely issue of notice to people living in vulnerable areas; maintaining stock of life saving drugs and food grains.
 "Natural disasters are unpredictable and therefore measures and good practices should be adopted in combating the future calamities," he said further directing all line departments to review and submit their disaster management plans soon. He emphasized the need for greater coordination and cooperation from various stakeholders and non-governmental agencies in order to tackle disasters collectively and directed officials to remain in their respective places of posting in a state of full alert to face any disastrous situation.
Vital suggestions and preventive measures for the upcoming monsoon were also shared and deliberated upon by the SP with an assurance to extend all possible help and assistance to the DDMA.
