PASIGHAT, Aug 7: After thorough review of the current Covid-19 situation in East Siang district and consulting with various stakeholders, the District Administration on Friday announced lifting of the weeklong lockdown in the district w.e.f Saturday although with some restrictions.
As a part of the new unlock plan, the BPGH will be opened with commencement of normal OPD services with the condition that admitted patients and healthcare workers will have to undergo RAT test. However, as precautionary measures certain restrictions have been issued as per which there will be complete lockdown every Sunday within the Pasighat township and its rural periphery with movement restriction not applicable to essential services. Gatherings of any kind on river sides have been prohibited and the district’s people have been reminded to strictly observe all the national directives on Covid-19.
The DA has also directed for commencing voluntary Rapid Antigen Test at the PHCs/CHCs and locations like Raneghat main market area, in between Sille and 2-mile etc. Besides appealing the people to go for voluntary testing at the centres, social distancing has been stressed upon.
Meanwhile, the East Siang DA also conducted a virtual consultative meeting on the district’s Covid-19 situation with various stakeholders on the day chaired by DC Dr. Kinny Singh.
The meeting was participated by the district’s MLAs, representatives of the NGOs, CBOs, student bodies and others. MLAs Ninong Ering and Kaling Moyong put forward their views. Representatives from the ABK Apex, WASE, ABSU, BBK, AEDSU, ALBSU, Covid Warriors and PMA participated in the videoconferencing. The DC while briefing on the current status of Covid in the district informed that massive testing have been carried out at various locations with special focus on market and other vulnerable areas and the lockdown has largely achieved the objective of source identification. She divulged that the DA is focusing on ramping up more testing by increasing the testing centres at various points like Raneghat entry point, market area etc. Till date, the district has 43 active Covid-19 cases and all are currently under isolation, she added.

Responding to the suggestions placed by the participants, DC said they have been well taken by the DA. DMO Dr. Kaling Dai also briefed on the district’s current Covid status. DIPRO
