PASIGHAT, Mar 17: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh convened an emergency meeting here in the DC’s conference hall on Monday evening to discuss the district’s preparedness to tackle Covid-19. She instructed the health department and admin officers to “remain vigilant and fully prepared to tackle any possible outbreak of Covid-19.
JDHS (BPGH) Dr. D Raina, DMO, Dr. Kaling Dai and Surveillance Officer Dr. Tarik Talom presented brief report on the preparations pertaining to screening teams, logistic support general administration and coordination among stakeholders. ADCs Tatdo Borang (Pasighat), Hage Lailang (Mebo) and Kabit Apang (Ruksin) and all admin officers were present in the meeting.
Taking serious note on possibility of the coronavirus spreading in the district, DC Singh appreciated the health department for adopting quarantine center at the IGJ HSS old Girls’ hostel and isolation and Self Reporting centers in BPGH as precautionary measures and further instructed to keep the rooms clean, sanitized and well-equipped. She said that the state government is taking adequate measures to contain the virus, and urged the people not to panic but to report to the nearest health centre for any doubt or symptom.
Reviewing the situation, the DC stressed the need to carry out extensive exercise to create awareness on Covid-19 in the district and instructed the IPR Department to circulate the Helpline Number 7628842648 along with news report and advisories as and when required. She issued an executive order for temporary closure of the weekly market across the district as most of the vendors come from the neighbouring state. All public gatherings and temporary ILP issuance has also been restricted. Stating that transport sector is highly vulnerable to outbreak of the disease, DC Singh directed the official teams comprising doctors and police on duty to ensure strict surveillance, monitoring and screening of passengers at all the entry-gates, airport and helipad and advised the denizens to maintain social distancing. The DC asked the medical fraternity to continuously review supply and stock of sufficient medicines while the magistrates have been asked to check hoarding and black marketing of hand sanitizers and masks etc in the district.
