PASIGHAT, Nov 26: After announcement of simultaneous election of Panchayati Raj and Municipal Election, the District Magistrate Dr. Kinny Singh, U/S 17(3) (b) of the Arms Act, 1959 imposed restriction on all licensed arms and directed all the license holders to deposit all licensed arms within seven days to the nearest police stations. The same shall remain deposited till one week after the counting is over. Any violation of this order shall be dealt strictly under the relevant provisions of law.
Institutional arm license holders like banks, financial institutions, person engaged with security agencies may apply for exemption, with reasons to the concerned police stations with appropriate documents.
In order to maintain law and order in the district and to ensure peace and tranquility in the district during entire election process, Officer in-charge of the respective police stations shall deposit the firearms of the licensees in the police stations under a proper acknowledgement to the licensee and would return after the completion of the election process, the order read.
