ITANAGAR, Sep 14: The All East Kameng District students’ Union (AEKDSU) on Tuesday demanded the state government for full-fledged subject teachers particularly science and mathematics  in government schools of East Kameng District.
Speaking to mediapersons at Press Club today , General Secretary AEKDSU, Pritom Yangfo said that since 2005, maximum government schools of the district are facing shortage of subject teachers like Mathematics, Science, English, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, and many more.
We have submitted numerous number of representations to the state government and Education Department regarding the issue, but till date not a single subject teacher has been appointed, he added.
Pritom informed that during the recent meet with the Secretary to Commissioner Education, it was known that there is huge shortage of subject teachers in the entire state which is being faced by almost every district.
"Every time government speaks about quality education, but fails to appoint subject teachers for government schools of the state," Pritom said while questioning the state government on how one can expect quality education without creating post for subject teachers.

Meanwhile, Sichi Sangdo, Education Secretary AEKDSU said that students have started attending physical classes which is of no use because they are lagging behind in acquiring knowledge without subject teachers in various government schools of the district.
Students are facing lots of problem due to absence of many subject teachers especially science teachers, he added. What will be the future of those students and who will be responsible for their future, he questioned.
