ITANAGAR, Nov 1: East Kameng and Kurung Kumey reached the grand finale of the ongoing Arunachal State Women's Football Championship 2021 after winning their respective semi final matches played today at Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy, Chimpu.
First semi final saw two championship favorites; Lohit and East Kameng displaying beautiful football all around but either sides failed to score any goal in normal regulation time. Eventually, match went in for the extra time. First half of the extra time also concluded without any goal. It was second half of the extra time when East Kameng finally got the all important goal scored by one of their best players , Mechang Veo to take the match away from so far resilient Lohit team and became the first team to reach the final of ASWFC 2021.
Mechang Veo was adjudged Player of the Match for scoring the decider of the match.
In the second Semi final Kurung Kumey defeated Ziro Utd FC 4-0.
Rejuvenated team of the Championship, Ziro Utd FC could not produce same performance like they did in the Quarter Finals. However, in form Kurung Kumey maintained their fabulous run so far in the Championship to secure their place in the Final.
First half of the match ended goal less as neither of the sides could hit the net.
KK started the second half with more attacking intent and Kai Rumi provided the lead for her team in the 50th minute which was soon doubled by Tarh Polu (54'). Brace by Tarh Kioram in the 61st and 75th minute closed any opportunity for Ziro Utd to come back in the match.
Team Captain of Kurung Kumey, Tamchi Tapi was declared Player of the Match for her inspiring performance.
Closing Ceremony of the Championship will take place at 1 PM of 3rd November next which will be followed by the Final Match ,informed Gebin Kato, Organising Chairman.
