ITANAGAR, Aug 2: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) today attended the virtual launch event of e-RUPI, the cashless and contactless digital payment instrument officially introduced to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Developed by National Payments Corporation of India in collaboration with the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and National Health Authority, objectives of the e-RUPI is to ensure leak-proof delivery of welfare services relating to medicine and nutritional support welfare schemes for mother and children, health schemes such as Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, agriculture subsidies etc. Terming it “revolutionary initiative” and a boon for citizens during COVID-19 pandemic, the Governor appealed the state’s people to avail its benefits. e-RUPI connects the sponsors of services with beneficiaries and service providers in a digital manner without any physical interface and assures timely payment to the service provider without involvement of any intermediary, he said while elaborating on the advantages.
The Governor also called for more awareness among common people in the state about the digital payment platform. PRO Raj Bhavan
