Sunpura, Jan 12: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today participated in the National Youth Day (Swami Vivekananda Jayanti) celebrations at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Sunpura, and inaugurated the new academic block and also unveiled a statue of Swami Vivekananda.
Addressing the gathering, Mein highlighted the enduring relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, emphasizing character-building, discipline, courage, and service as the foundation of nation-building. He stated that the youth of today are active contributors to development and social transformation.
Mein underscored the Government of Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to youth empowerment through focused investments in education and skill development. He highlighted Mission Shikshit Arunachal 2029, aimed at full compliance with the National Education Policy 2020, strengthening foundational learning, improving performance at secondary levels, and developing 21st-century skills.
Highlighting the role of VKV Sunpura in shaping young minds, the Deputy Chief Minister cited that the school’s journey from just 30 students in 1981 to over 300 students today stands as a strong example of sustained dedication to quality education and holistic development. He commended the institution for achieving 100% pass results in all Board examinations and for its students’ outstanding performance in academics, science programmes, sports, and national-level competitions.
Appreciating the commitment of the Principal, teachers, and non-teaching staff, the Deputy Chief Minister reaffirmed the Government’s resolve to build a Viksit and Self-Reliant Arunachal Pradesh, driven by education, discipline, and youth leadership.
He assured continued support of the Government to the Vivekananda Kendra for holistic development of quality education in the State and to provide funds for the construction of a Multipurpose Hall for the VKV Sunpura. 
Mein was joined by Dr. Mohesh Chai, MLA, 44 Tezu Assembly Constituency, former Minister Nokul Chai and Secretary, VKVAPT, Rupesh Mathu along with HoDs, Panchayat leaders, teachers, parents, students, and members of the local community.
