ITANAGAR, Oct  22:  Amidst the controversy over the length and breadth of  ongoing National Highway construction  at Itanagar, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein  who is also holding the portfolio of Public Works Department  claimed that ‘No compromise was done  on  the length and breadth of  National Highway from Chandranagar to  Papu Nallah.
“The entire allegation leveled against the state government is politically motivated,” asserted Mein. Addressing reporters today, Mein further added that   ‘state government is not going against the Highway norms as the current width of the road is 30 metres which is under NH norms.' While training guns on the Congress, Mein said it was the decision of the  then Congress government to reduce the width of the road up to 24 meters  but Pema Khandu led  government has decided to go with 30 meters.
While clarifying on the land compensation row, Mein categorically said,  ‘ why should government pay compensation which are under Right of Way, however  despite that state government has already distributed the land compensation (incentives )  of Rs 42 crore  to the concerned affected  people.
The Deputy CM also informed that eviction drive of the left out areas will start from next week. ‘Earlier we had decided to start eviction drive in a phased manner but in a recent Cabinet meeting held on October 8 last, we have decided to do it in one go from Chandranagar to Papu Nallah,'  informed Mein.
The time line for the completion of the Chandranagar to Papu Nallah highway is three years and we assure  the denizens that the road will be  completed in its framed timeline, indeed the black topping of the roads has already started, said the DCM.
When asked about transfer of Deputy Commissioner being demanded by the apex student’s organization and political party for his alleged involvement in the land compensation issue, Mein said ‘when there is no compromise on length and breadth of national highway and also in compensation, so there is no ground to transfer DC Capital complex.'
Further responding to the report of fact finding committee on Lower Subansiri land compensation issue, Mein opined that taking note of the  seriousness of the issue, state government has already arrested three people in this connection and with the submission of fact finding committee report, government will take more stern action on anybody found guilty.
