KHONSA, Jun 18: In yet another clampdown on drug-peddling activities in Tirap, the Anti Drug Squad (ADS) of the district police has nabbed two drug peddlers, one of whom happens to be the main supplier of contrabands in the district and recovered suspected brown sugar, cash and other items.
As part of the operation led by Inspector W. Kamhua, SI O.Rongrang, SI, B.Mossang and police personnel of Khonsa Police Station, suspected places at the Khonsa-Longding border was cordoned off following the receipt of specific intelligence input regarding drug peddling activities. A white Bolero car with a woman named P. Gangsa and driver A.Wangsa was intercepted. After getting confirmation from sources about the identity of the woman, Executive Magistrate, Khonsa Ripi Doni was informed who immediately reached the spot. A search of the vehicle which was preceded by serving of notice u/s 50 of the NDPS Act in presence of the Executive Magistrate and witness led to the recovery of 5.69 gm of suspected brown sugar inside seven plastic containers, a metallic spoon for measuring drugs,
Rs 33410 in cash, 2 mobile phones, 1 ATM card and a handbag containing ID documents. The vehicle the duo were travelling was also seized and a case (No. 02/21 u/s 21(b) of the NDPS Act) was registered against them at Dadam PS. Further investigation is on and according to the district police, with the arrest of P. Gangsa, the main supplier of drugs in Tirap from the Tissa area has now been nabbed.
