KHONSA, Dec 6: Continuing its crackdown and working towards a Drug-free Tirap district, the Anti Drug Squad of Tirap Police arrested a drug peddler with suspected Heroin.
The ADS led by SI O. Rongrang, OC PS Khonsa apprehended one Mr.Wangbo from sweet fall colony, Khonsa in a raid based on specific input of drug peddling in the area in the intervening night of December 4 last. During the search of the person, in presence of executive magistrate, suspected Heroin of approximate 30 grams was recovered and seized.
The accused revealed that when contacted, a dealer in Dimapur would make the delivery at Tinsukia or Dibrugarh district of Assam. A case of NDPS Act have been registered at Khonsa PS and investigation is on.
It is worth mentioning that after the last arrest of a drug peddler here in October, the peddlers have changed their modus operandi. SP Tirap, Kardak Riba while appreciating the work of ADS Tirap Police cautioned the peddlers that law will catch hold of them eventually; so they should desist from drug peddling which destroy the young generation and society as a whole.
