Itanagar, Jan 4: The security forces on Tuesday apprehended a women drug peddler from Longding in Arunachal Pradesh and seized brown sugar worth over Rs eight lakh from her possession, the police sources said.
“Based on a specific intelligence input regarding presence of a drug dealer in possession of contraband items in Longding town, a joint team of Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles and
Longding Police apprehended the drug dealer. She was found in possession of four packets comprising 40.93 gram of brown sugar worth Rs 8,18,600 and the sale proceeds of Rs 38,620,” the sources said.
The drug dealer was reportedly involved in transshipment of brown sugar in bulk from Langkho village in Myanmar to Kunsa village in Arunachal’s Longding district and further sale of the contraband to various individuals in Longding.
“Her apprehension is a major blow to the illegal drug network in Longding district,” the sources said, adding that the drug dealer alongwith the seized contraband and cash amount were handed over to Longding Police Station for further investigation.
