TAWANG, Apr 12: Secretary, Ministry of DoNER Inder Jit Singh on the concluding day of his three-day tour to Tawang today
chaired a meeting to review the ongoing developmental works of the Ministry
in the district here at the DC’s Conference Hall, attended by Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and other high-ranking officials. 
DC, Tawang Sang Phuntsok through a PowerPoint Presentation shared the detailed information on current status of works of projects under progress and of those proposed in the district. The Chief Secretary while highlighting the strategic geographical importance of Tawang and its remoteness expressed the need for bringing improvement in air and digital connectivity. He also stressed on fund allocation for monitoring quality of sanctioned projects and an online system for updating the progress of schemes at the union ministerial level. While highlighting the low fund absorption capacity of the Northeast states due to which funds get lapsed, the DoNER Secretary opined that projects which are supposed to be completed within two-three years shouldn’t be kept lingering. But this shouldn’t mean that quality of work should be compromised, he clarified, adding that the states need to identify with the concerned ministry their specific needs and the DoNER Ministry will play an active role in getting those projects approved. He also stressed on the need for special initiatives to expedite completion of projects in the NE states with due emphasis on maintaining quality.
Joint Secretary, DoNER Anuradha S.Chagti and Secretary Planning, IPR and RWD NT Glow also spoke on the occasion. Earlier in the morning, the Chief Secretary inspected various undergoing projects like Walk-through-Market, CC Pavement, proposed parking lot in Old Market, township beautification site etc. Secretary Health P. Parthiban launched the Tika Utsav at KDS District Hospital and inspected the under-construction IPD ward and interacted with DMO, MS, doctors and health workers.
