NAHARLAGUN, May 8: Doctors called off their strike midway, which was supposed to go on till 6 in the evening today, after receiving written assurance from Health Minister Alo Libang.
In the statement to the President  Indian Medical Association – Arunachal Pradesh unit (IMA-AP), Libang has assured to book the attackers of  Hormin hospital incident under appropriate section of AP medical professional and medical institution protection Act 2019 and to deliver justice soon.
The minister further assured that the government is fully committed to provide a safe and conducive atmosphere to medical professionals at their workplace where they can discharge their duties without any fear or duress.
Addressing media persons at the conference hall of TRIHMS this afternoon, President IMA-AP Dr Lobsang Tsetim urged the doctors’ community to resume their normal duties.
Reiterating his plea to not assault health practitioners, Dr Lobsang requested that people can file complaints if there has been any negligence on their part. “We are constantly trying to upgrade our services. Mistakes are bound to happen; it is nature's law. If there has been an error, complaints can be filed. But assault is not a sign of a civilized society. We are no god. We are human beings. We also sympathise and empathies with our patients,” he further added.
Adding to the decision, General Secretary IMA-AP Dr Jego Ori said "Situation however will be closely monitored regarding the assurance from the state government and then we will decide our future course of action."
