ITANAGAR, Mar 23: Dept. of Anthropology, Dera Natung Government College today conducted a special lecture session on ‘Nutritional Anthropology: Historical Genesis vs Modern Implications’ wherein distinguished anthropologist from Mrinalini Datta Mahavidyapith, Kolkata Dr Suman Chakrabarty was the speaker.
Speaking on the topics such as interactions between biology and culture, nutrition and health and the future opportunities of application of nutritional anthropology, Dr Chakrabarty highlighted how lifestyle changes have led to an increased risk of multiple health problems. While observing that changes in food habits have impacted the overall health of people, he emphasized on the need for serious anthropological research to arrive at solutions.
Principal Dr M.Q. Khan encouraged the students to stay healthy by exercising and eating less junk food.
