Roing, Oct 5: The 9th U-17 boys and 3rd U-17 girls district level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2021 was inaugurated by Superintendent of Police James Kabang Lego on Monday.
Addressing the participants, Lego talked about the importance of games and sports to keep oneself physically fit and build up self confidence and self-esteem. Stressing on the need to motivate oneself to excel academically and to build up social skills, he also reminded the participants of the glory achieved by sportspersons and advised them to play with true spirit of sportsmanship.
The SP informed about sports quota in national as well as state government services especially in Armed forces and Police services reserved for sportspersons. He added that the District level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament should be a platform for young players of the district to showcase their talent in football.
DDSE Deepak Tayeng and BEO (HQ) Obang Langkam also spoke on the occasion. Principals and Headmasters of Govt. Hr. Sec. schools, Sec. schools and private schools, officials of DDSE office, Coach and players of various teams were present.
On the day (4th October 2021) two Matches were conducted. In the first match between GSS Parbuk and Divine Word School(DWS), Roing , DWS beat GSS Parbuk by 2-1 goals. In the second Match between Girls teams of Intaya Public School(IPS) and GSS Parbuk, IPS defeated GSS Parbuk 7-0 goals. DIPRO
