TAWANG, Feb 24: With the objective of promoting local entrepreneurship, a 5-day district level event showcasing the handloom and handicraft products of local artisans was inaugurated today by DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok near the District Sales Emporium here in the township.
Commending the initiative which has been organised by Arunachal Pradesh Handloom & Handicrafts Development Society, Itanagar under North Eastern Region Textiles Promotion Scheme (NERTPS), the DC cited the Sunday Market that has started recently which will provide a good platform to the local farmers and artisans. Assistant Director, Textiles & Handicrafts, Union Ministry of Textiles & Handicrafts Rajiv Saikia and ADTH Tawang Chano Lowang spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, ten woodcraft artisans and ten weavers were provided with free innovative toolkits and looms. DIPRO
