Yupia, Oct 12 : The District ICDS Cell, Yupia, organised a meeting-cum-interaction programme for members of the Local Committees (LCs) of Itanagar Capital Region and Papum Pare (Rural) on sexual harassment at the workplace at the Conference Hall of the District Medical Officer, Yupia.
Jaya Taba, Deputy Director, District ICDS Cell, highlighted the role of LCs and Internal Committees (ICs) in ensuring a safe and dignified working environment for women.
Bahi Koyu, CDPO (HQ) and Nodal Officer, Mission Shakti, briefed participants on the Sexual Harassment Electronic Box (SHe-Box) portal and the responsibilities of LC members. He stressed the need for institutions to constitute ICs as mandated under the POSH Act, 2013, and ensure their onboarding on the SHe-Box portal.
Tana Chammaro, CDPO, Nirjuli, elaborated on the key provisions and procedures of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013.
Kani Nada Maling, Chairperson, LC, Itanagar Capital Region, emphasised awareness and coordination and suggested quarterly meetings of LCs and ICs to strengthen implementation of the Act.
The programme concluded with an interactive group discussion on the POSH Act, the SHe-Box portal and measures to enhance the effectiveness of Local Committees in preventing and addressing workplace sexual harassment.
